A Devotees life can be compared to a WELL.
A well with sweet water which is his Krsna consciousness.
Just as well water is meant for quenching the thirst of people parched by sun's heat, so a devotee is a compassionate preacher distributing the knowledge of Krishna consciousness.
If a well is not used for a long time, its water becomes stagnant and becomes a carrier of diseases, gets bitter and emits foul smell.
similarly if we do not extend ourselves to preach and give Krishna consciousness to others , our Krishna consciousness becomes stagnant.
"when we speak what we have heard then we remember it. and when we remember it then we can follow it.
Now if a well is continuously used and its water is poured out continuously then soon the water level in well goes down and well can become water less.
Therefore sufficient time intervals should be there by which the well can regain water from the ground and then again get refilled.
similarly in the process of distributing Krishna consciousness we should give ourselves enough opportunity to fill up our life with Krishna consciousness.
so our sadhana should not be sacrificed or compromised in the process of executing the preaching mission.
On regular basis the well has to be cleaned and disinfected. That is a devotee should honestly contemplates his progress in Krishna consciousness and under guidance improve the quality of his life.
Well, a well water can supply quality and quantity if it is situated near a large clean sweet reservoir of water.
similarly a Krishna conscious person should lead his life in proper consultation with Advanced devotees in Krishna consciousness and thus take guidance from them.
Pls note - In today’s age there is drought everywhere - people r seeking Krishna consciousness with or without knowledge. so a devotee is like the only person in this age who has water in his well. he should be liberal.
not become hard hearted by locking up his well.
" pran jyache yar, se hetu prachar"- only one who has life can preach.
