Hare Krishna !

I was born and brought up in a Hindu family in Nepal in a family that worships Vishnu and demigods.

While I was in High School, our one of my Nepalese teacher (who used to teach us Nepalese) told us Ramayana and Mahabharata stories. That is how I came to know about Krishna.

-------------------One Atheist teacher --------------
When I was in 10th grade, there was another atheist teacher, who taught us Nepalese, he said that God is an imaginary personality. That made me atheist and it took many years to discard such misconception.

-----------Contact with local ISKCON in 90s---------
Back in 90s, when I was still in Nepal, I met the local ISKCON devotees distributing books and I bought the Krishna book, the BG and few other books. I read Krishna Book and liked it very much but could not understand Bhagwat Gita, which I decided I would not read until I get "more intelligent" to understand it. I

Like my parents, I still kept worshipping all the demigods, especially, Goddess Durga and Shiva for the material benefits. When I worshipped or prayed it would be in this order –Ganesh, Luxmi, Vishnu, Krishna, Devi and finally Shiva and this continued till 2008, when finally I brought myself (with Krishna's mercy, of course) to Krishna consciousness.

---How did I come to KC?--------------------------
I was attracted to Lord Krishna and Lord Rama by watching DVDs and TV serials of Ramayana and Mahabharatas over so many years in the past. Krishna Janmasthami of 2008 was the first Birth Day of Krishna I ever celebrated first in my life.

Coming across www.krishna.com is another milestone. Credit goes to all the devotees I met online.

Goip Gita Mataji suggested me to start chanting. Other prabhus and matajis also helped me a lot.

----How Krishna Consciousness has Helped Me---------
I had to eat meat every day and without it my meal used to be tasteless. I had to drink several cups of tea and coffee on a day. I was not self-disciplined. My wife is so loving but still, I felt lonely and depressed. Krishna Consciousness was the remedy to all those problems. Jai Srila Prabhupada!

In October, 2008, I removed the pictures of other deities from my room as I came to know all of them worship Krishna, serve Krishna.

--Vipassana/Budddhism---

Even though I used to do Vipassana meditation and it helped me quite a lot, but still it was not the best remedy to my problem –being depressed, lonely and lacking self-discipline.

For a short time, I was follower of Shivarudra Balayogi. But that also was not for me because I found few things I did not like.

My mum is the follower of Siddhashram Shakti Kendra. But I did not find this as good as Krishna consciousness.
-----------------------So Finally------------------------------
After all those trials and errors, I ended up with nectar of KC thanks to Srila Prabhupada who brought it to the Western World. The more I practice KC and the deeper I go into it, the more pleasing it seems to me.

Can money, alcohol, sports and music guarantee happiness?

The answer is NO straight away. They are all like going from one hell to another hell of troubles. They can not give us real happiness. Simple to understand! If sports , cinema and music (except the music for the pleasure of Krishna) would make a man or woman happy, there would not be depressed singer in mental ward of hospitals; and there would not be a footballer arrested for assault, and drink driving; there would not be a film star, who can possibly buy the whole hospital, hospitalized for mental problems, and there would not be business who is upset 9 out of 10 times.

We need money for our food and shelter and to serve Krishna. That’s it. Money and other property accumulated only to show pride and prestige and only to satisfy our senses does not give us happiness but becomes the source of all troubles.

Thanks to Krishna consciousness, I am born for the second time in the same life time!

I need to do a lot in the path of Bhakti marga. I could do much more when I get association of devotees like all of you!!
