Hare Krishna !
I was born and brought up in a Hindu family in Nepal. My parents used to worship all the demigods and they still do so.

While I was in High School, our Nepalese teacher told us Ramayana and Mahabharata stories.
-------------------One Atheist teacher --------------
When I was in 10th grade, there was another atheist teacher who taught Nepalese. According to him, God is an imaginary personality. That made me atheist and it took many years cleanse my mind.
-----------Contact with local ISKCON in 90s---------
Back in 90s, when I was still in Nepal, I met the devotees, who were from the local ISKCON distributing. I bought the Krishna book and BG.
But I still kept worshipping all the demigods. When I worship or pray I used to do in this order –Ganesh, Luxmi, Vishnu, Krishna, Devi and finally Shiva.
That way of my worship for Gods and goddesses continued until I became a Krishna devotee in 2008.
------------------------U-Turn--------------------------
I had a strong desire of watching all the DVDs of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Krishna. But to buy the whole sets was very costly for me so I had to wait till 2008 to fulfil my desire.
When Krishna Janmasthami of 2008 came, I was a bit Krishna conscious. Few days before the Janmasthami, I found a great web site -www.krishna.com. The Janmasthami of this year was basically the first Janmasthami I celebrated.
I got much help from the Live Help people in this web site and owe them a lot. Goip Gita Dasi Mataji suggested me to start chanting. So I started doing it. I gradually went on increasing the number of rounds. Since the middle of September, I have been doing 16 almost every day.
--------How Krishna Consciousness has Helped Me---------
Krishna Consciousness has reshaped my life. I had to eat meat every day and without it my meal used to be tasteless. I had to drink several cups of strong tea a day. I was not self-disciplined. I was lonely and depressed. Krishna Consciousness gave me the answer to all those problems. The four regulative principles are very good.
About a month ago, I removed the pictures of other deities from my room as I came to know all of them worship Krishna, serve Krishna. With respect, I cleared their pictures and packed in a bag which I am going to submerge into a river.
----------Trail and Error with Others ---------------
Hinduism is more misguided. Worshipping all the demigods and goddesses is not practical as there are 33 million demigods who have to be worshipped in 33 million different ways.
--Vipassana/Budddhism---

Even though I used to do Vipassana meditation and it helped me quite a lot, but still it was not the best remedy to my problem –being depressed, lonely and lacking self-disciplined. Moreover, I did not like the Buddhist monks themselves going to the Cinemas to see the movies full of sex scenes and violence.

For a short time, I was follower of Shivarudra Balayogi. But that also was not for me because I found so many flaws in there.

My mum is the follower of Siddhashram Shakti Kendra. I did not find it suitable as well, mainly because this is based on selfish kind of worship –worship for material benefits.

After all those trials and errors, I ended up with nectar of KC thanks to Srila Prabhupada who brought it to the Western World.
