Hare Krishna, Dear Madana Bhakta,
I know it's hard all the things you're saying about your family and friends not being devotees and you having to hide your identity, etc...
I went through a lot of that when I first became a devotee... that was a very long time ago, of course (37 years to be exact) lol, but I still remember it well.
It was similar in that they were all Christians, and it was so horrifying to them, and the whole thing of being vegetarian was like being from Another Planet!!
It made them all furious, upset, critical and I did a lot of crying too... I was only 13 at the time and had very little idea of how to "defend by beliefs".....
No one was a vegetarian in those days, it was nearly unheard of where I lived, in the USA in Florida.... and anything Un-Christian was Un-Acceptable for sure!
So, I do know it's really hard, and I just wanted to share this with you in case it might be helpful for you.... a lot of people go through similar things when they become devotees.
