About me

My name is Kay and I reside in Texas, though my parents are originally from the West Indies. I'm very proud and close to my culture and as a Hindu in America I face the common struggle of self-awareness in the states where it is easy to lose one's identity. In joining this group I hope to find some sort of support system and develop a learning envionrment of some sense, in the people that share the same and the opposing view on life and Hinduism. So add me and let's chat it up:]

Haribol I saw your question in Hari Kanthas profile. That is a picture of Dhanvantari, who is a Vishnu incarnation who appeared from the churning of the milk ocean.

The son of Kasya was Kasi, and his son was Rashtra, the father of Dirghatama. Dirghatama had a son named Dhanvantari, who was the inaugurator of the medical science and an incarnation of Lord Vasudeva, the enjoyer of the results of sacrifices. One who remembers the name of Dhanvantari can be released from all disease.

Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Srimad Bhagavatam 8.8 Summary

This chapter describes how the goddess of fortune appeared during the churning of the ocean of milk and how she accepted Lord Vishnu as her husband. As described later in the chapter, when Dhanvantari appeared with a pot of nectar the demons immediately snatched it from him, but Lord Vishnu appeared as the incarnation Mohini, the most beautiful woman in the world, just to captivate the demons and save the nectar for the demigods.

Hare Krishna!

I wanted to share an experience, I and ma frns planned to go to Agra to see the Taj.. and on the way we stopped at Vrinda van, then we planned to spend some time there..we visited certain Temples including the Iskon Temple.. nd we got so engrossed there emotionally that we were almost on the verge of dropping the idea to visit the Taj..and we went just for the heck of it. While returning from there.. we simply couldnt stop ourselves frm visiting Vrindavan again..the beaty and love of Krishna..its in the air..I really love Krishna!!
