About me

I was not raised in a devotee family. I am not Hindu or even Indian. I am an ordinary American, born in the USA and raised by American parents.
I became a devotee in 1970, at the age of 13, after being introduced to Krishna consciousness. I took it very seriously right away, and felt strongly that it was truly the purpose of life.
I took initiation from my spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhativedanta Swami Prabhupad, at the age of 15, and second initiation (or Brahmin initiation) at the age of 17. I was very fortunate because both of these initiations were done in person by Srila Prabhupad, not that other types are not just as meaningful, I'm only saying that to me, it was a special blessing of association with my spiritual master that I will always be grateful for.
I have done all types of devotional service within Iskcon, throughout the years, I cannot actually think of any type that I have not done.
I have done cleaning, cooking, sewing for the Deities, I have been a Pujari and done Deity worship. I have done sankirtan, book distribution and Hari Nam. I have done various preaching programs. I even opened a temple, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, (not alone, but with my husband). I started and ran a Prasadam restaurant in San Diego, CA. I have cared for Tulasi Devi. I have made garlands, and ghee wicks, and cleaned brass, and polished silver. I have two children who are now grown, and I raised them as devotees, they spent time in Gurukula. I even helped to start the first Gurukula in Dallas, Texas. Not that I did any important thing, but I was sent there to assist and I served and helped raise the children, even though I was only 15 myself. I am most likely leaving quite a few things out, but so many people have been asking me lately to tell them more about me, so I have written all this in my profile.
My personal view about all this is one thing: after nearly four decades of endeavoring to become Krishna conscious, one thing is apparent to me, and that is that Krishna consciousness is a life-long process, you have to start, and keep going, no matter what life throws at you. It won't happen overnight, rarely does someone become totally and completely Krishna conscious that fast.
So, my view is that we need to persevere. Krishna rewards determination, and a little advancement on this path is never lost.
I appreciate this website community and I believe that it is a wonderful way for people of all kinds to learn about Krishna Consciousness, regardless of where they may live, or what particular stage of spiritual advancement they are in or what type of material situation they are dealing with. I am very encouraged and excited about this website and am happy to have the opportunity to be part of it!

Hare Krishna!!!
You can surely post the question in the forum.

Hare Krishna!!
PAMHO!
You are a senior devotee and so would like to take your guidance. There are some queries that needs to be solved. Will you please help me.
Some times in life if knowingly or unknowingly get attatched to something or someone. And when things doesn't go the way u expected, there is disappointment and distress. You understand that whatever happened is for good and has happened because Krisna desired it. But the mind doesnt let you accept it easily. And then starts the battle between mind and intelligence. In Bhagwat Gita Krisna says that its difficult to controll mind and then further says that practice and dettatchment are the only ways to controll mind. I want to know how to exactly practice dettatchment when caught in battle of intelligence and mind. So that you dont get distressed.

Thank you.

Snehal

Hare krishna Pamho,
S.N.Baby

Hare Krishna Mataji!
I believe you u are right that the kind of guidance I desire should be in person. Till the time such guidance is available I seek help from you. I have some questions to be addressed which i desire to not to be public . Can I have your email address so that I may write to you?
Do u use anything like skype,gtalk,yahoo messenger,etc.?

Hare Krishna Mataji!
I am in India right now. I would be coming to US this August or latest by January. I would be attending North Dakota State University . Are u aware of any devotee association available there?

hello Navasi! PAMHO! AGTSP! would like to ask two questions.

first, not wishing to be offensive, but what was the cause of Srila Prabhupad's departure? was it heart disease (like on His first transatlantic trip) or cancer? there is mention of cause in His initiates departures, but never a mention of His own. and why is this so taboo?

and secondly, perhaps a dumb question...but,how does one have a blog here? sorry to bother you ^^;

HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA
KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE
HARE RAMA HARE RAMA
RAMA RAMA HARE HARE

Hare Krishna, Mata Ji!

Just want to say -:)

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare!
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare!

Hare Krishna Mataji!
Thanks a lot for your mercy.

I am chanting 8 rounds . But the problem is that I am not able to concentrate my minds flickers from one thought to another.

But my chanting becomes really well after Mangalarati at temple. Temple is quite far away from my place so I am not able to visit it frequently plus I have not told anything abt my spiritual life at home. I believe that they will not appreciate it very mucj because I am too young.

Earlier when I was regularly getting association I used to chant 2 or 3 rounds but that used to keep me tranquil . I could see my material desire decreasing.

But now I am not having proper association of devotees and although I am chanting more I am not able to concentrate due to my personal problems also. I am in a kind of upset kind of phase right now.

What i desire is association of devotees and someone who can look after my spiritual needs in person . May be you could be that person if Lord so desires.

I sometimes try to discuss my problems at Live Help section but differant people are available at differant time so a sense of personalism is lost.

Please keep showering your mercy and give me your association so that I can progress nicely in krishna conciousness.
I would like to have your suggestions on improving my japa.
