Hare Krishna all!
OK so I understand we offer food to Krishna, all fine and good, but what do we do with it after? I keep reading we take the remnents so does that mean there is a portion we don't eat? I can't imagine we leave it out for Him forever nor throw it in the trash after. Do we send it back into the earth, nature, poor beggers on the street?
Sorry of this sounds like a silly or offensive question.
Hare Krsna
This has already been answered very nicely.
Everything we eat should be offered to Krishna first. We shouldn't eat anything that hasn't first been offered. And every foodstuff that has been offered should be honored/eaten by some living being. We should take it ourselves, or give it to someone else, or it can even be given to animals or insects.
After it has been offered, everything that is left on the plate is considered the remnants.

the solution I found in my case..do correct me if I'm wrong
Hare Krishna..
I have this habit of offering food (only first bite) to Krishna from my childhood as taught by my mother, my whole family do this.. We keep this offered food on roof for birds. It's fine if we are at home, but when I am in office.. I keep it separately and bring it back home in same lunch box and then throw it on roof. In case when attending parties where I don't find any place to keep it, I myself eats it at the end rather then throwing it in bin. Also in case I am sharing my plate with someone, I offer this bite to next person..if it doesn't works at end I don't hesitate to eat it myself remembering Krishna..
I shared what I do..If their can be better way someone please correct me.
Hare Krishna..
It is not necessary to throw
It is not necessary to throw any food on the roof. The practice is to offer it all to Krishna and then eat all that was offered
thank you so much..
Hare Krishna..
thanks so much for correcting me.
bhoga>prasadam/mahaprasadam
No, it's a good question.
food before offering = bhoga
after offering = prasadam, a.k.a. remnants (of the Lord's diner)
prasadam directly from the altar and prasadam eaten by sadhus, like one's guru = mahaprasadam
Which description do you refer to? If it's here on Krishna.com it could be finetuned to avoid this kind of uncertainty.
All the best and higher taste from (maha)prasadam! Hari Hari
yes JanVEDA is right you
yes JanVEDA is right you should eat all that is offered. After offering it the food becomes Krishna's remnants
Krishna is so cool that He
Krishna is so cool that He can eat with His eyes.

I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, whose transcendental form is full of bliss, truth, substantiality and is thus full of the most dazzling splendor. Each of the limbs of that transcendental figure possesses in Himself, the full-fledged functions of all the organs, and eternally sees, maintains and manifests the infinite universes, both spiritual and mundane.
