MAHA HARINAM SANKIRTAN: Friday 4th September
Friday 4th September is the 50th Anniversary of Srila Prabhupada taking Sannyasa.

This ecstatic event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Queen Street. Starting outside I-Max Cinema near Aotea Square. Everyone is welcome to join the chanting party, the more the merrier. It’s fun for the young and old alike. Devotees can come directly from work, no need to change into dhoti/sari.

But any kind of dress is all right, just so long as you come and join the ecstatic kirtan for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada.
"Hare Krishna" has become famous world wide, just by doing this Harinam daily! We will have both a sitting kirtan with a book table, and also a walking kirtan party, so you can try both flavors of bliss! It will be great to be together, and it will be a fun, easy and blissful experience, even if you only are there for a few minutes, so please join in!

In the context of the World Holy Name Week WHNW (http://whnw.org/default.aspx), which is taking place from the 2nd of September until the 11th of September 2009 on a worldwide basis, we're going to have a 24hour-kirtana at the Zurich temple for the pleasure of Sri Harinama Prabhu and Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga!

The kirtana will take place in the temple room and it will start with the Gaura-Aratik @ 7 PM, on Thursday,10th of September.
Thereafter, we will do Hare Krishna Maha-mantra kirtana until 7 PM of the 11th of September, pausing for the regular temple programs.

We would be so happy if as many people as possible will take part in this kirtana, because the louder the voice, the greater is the chance that Radha-Krishna get to hear us in the spiritual world! :-)

Toronto

Here in Toronto we are planning various japa sessions and Harinams, but the culmination will be on Sept 12. It is the 2nd and last weekend of the Toronto International Film Festival. There will be more stars here than in Hollywood. On that day we are renting a double decker bus, normally used for tours of Toronto. We will have a 4 hour kirtan through the streets of Toronto, distributing the Holy Name and Prasad to all the then fortunate souls. It will be really ecstatic!!!

Burning Man Festival, Nevada

Nitai, Myself, our crew of about 10, Gauravani & As Kindred Spirits,
The Mayapuris and 50,000 people will be at Burning Man during WHN.

largest temple complex we've ever built, located where everyone in the entire event will pass by us.

Here in pune, we have planned to celebrate the WHNW 2009 in a
major way. Following is a brief description of our plans:

1. HArinam Sankirtan in 9 major areas of pune: From 4th Sept to 12th sept, we will be conducting Harinam Sankirtan in 9 major areas of pune. About 40 Brahmacaris and 100 congregation devs will participate in each of them. Due to Lord Ganesh Visarjan, we are not able to get permission to have Harinam on 2nd and 3rd Sept and thus we are starting on 4th and ending on 12th with Maha Harinam.

2. Japathon: We are inspiring the congregation devotees to chant more no. of rounds during the auspicious period of 30th Aug to 12th Sept because 31st is an Ekadashi and 1st Sept is Vamana Dwadashi. We are issuing a Japa record card and commitment form to each devotee which they will have to fill in and return back to us. We are also putting up a stall in temple to introduce new people to chanting and distribute beads and Hare Krishna Mahamantra stickers to them. If Krishna desires, we have plans to chant 1 billion Holy names during this period. Because of very restricted internet access, we are not able to enroll online for JAPATHON but we are maintaining the entire database and we will mail it to the website afterwards.

3. In temple hall, we will continue Kirtans after the morning Srimad
Bhagavatam class till 1:15 PM and then again from 5:15 PM till 9:15 PM. Different devotees will take lead to sing for the pleasure of the Lord.

I have gone online and pledged to chant 17 rounds per day during Holy Name Week. I know it is not much, but I want to make sure I can do what I pledge.

Also Nitai Gaurasundara Prabhu has arranged that our annual 24 Hour Kirtan take place during this week. So we will be gathering at his house so that chanting occurs continuosly for 24 hours beginning at 6pm on Friday the 4th of September.

I hope I can also get some time to distribute some pamphlets to the general public in regards to chanting God's names.

On a personal note I will quickly mention that this past week-end we were fortunate to have the association of three ISKCON sannyasies -- their Holinesses Ritatvaja Swami, Hanumat Preshaka Swami and Hridayananda Dasa Goswami. Yesterday we all toured the construction that is going on at Murari -- HH Hridayananda Maharaja is very instrumental in this recent work. This was inspiring to us. I have been around Murari since coming in contact with the movement in 1986 and it appears that finally something may actually be happening at Murari on a scale that can attract people to Krishna Consciousness.

Following the example of our fearless founder/acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, we will be publicly engaging in the essential practice of bhakti-yoga (the yoga of devotion) for this age – congregational chanting of the Holy Name of Krishna -- as inaugurated by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Sri Nityananda more than 500 years ago. This is the dharma for this Age of Kali, for every living being. During this colorful event, the public will get a glimpse of the bliss that we feel every day as we chant in our homes and in the temple.
Usually we are only able to support this Sankirtan effort morally or by donating money. But on this day we can all part with some of our time and join together to be part of a big public display of devotion and get a taste of the bliss for which we are always anxious. There is really nothing like this kind of party on the Earth today -- the sankirtan party of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

A manifestation of about one million people will take place in France where devotees will perform Hari-Nam during the weekend. I made an anouncement in the morning program about the World Holy Name Week referring to the mails I sent on the Benelux Istagosthi. Mahaprabhu mentioned that a bus can still be organized to take the devotees to France during the weekend. Vinod behari from The Hague wrote to me that Radhadesh was already involved in the WHNW.
