Are we are not to cast our eyes upon the deities from the time the offering has been set before them, until it is removed? How is it that photos are taken of deities while offerings are on the altar?
What is the understanding of viewing deities in the temple while offerings are on the altar?

At my temple you can view the deities while they have offerings on the altar. They do not close the garbhagriha but instead put a little gate up in front of the offering to block that from view but we can still view the deities.
I'm not sure though how this translates in home worship
