BG Chap 4 - Kṛṣṇa's decision to directly instruct Arjuna about karma

The truth about karma, vikarma and akarma are difficult to understand. One should understand the truth about vikarma – that performance of forbidden actions leads to misery. And it is difficult to understand how avoidance of action (akarma) can lead to auspiciousness. Kṛṣṇa explains how karma can be seen as akarma and how no karma accrues to one who works in transcendental knowledge. Also properly performed karma can be seen as nondifferent from the process of jñāna. One has to follow in the footsteps of previous authorities in the line of disciplic succession to understand all these. Otherwise even the most intelligent men will be bewildered regarding the standard actions of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. For this reason, the Lord decided to instruct Arjuna in Kṛṣṇa consciousness directly.
