This is "not-for-profit" web site purely for the social welfare, for the sake of humanity. It is not created and run for commercial purpose. So, the domain name ending with .org would be better than .com, which is purely commercial.
But, if this leads to inconveniently alter the URL address, then better to keep the existing one.

.org sites are not as frequented as often as .com .com is basically all encompassing. Any type of org, individual, business, society can take advantage of .com.
If a website wants more traffic the best choice is a .com
