Hare Krishna, prabhus.
What are some foods that are suitable to take with you when you are away from home or other facility where you can cook or prepare food?
For example, if you are away the whole day for work, what are some suitable foods to take with you for lunch?
Thank you.
Fruits
Dear Prabhus,
If you feel Kichadi and lenthils and these recipes will be liked and relished by Sri Krishna. Please prepare and enjoy it. But always keep monitoring your mind, becuase if you are cooking a fantastic meal with the state of mind to relish your taste and then give it to him, he will bless you as his prasadam, but still he will know what you were thinking when you were cooking it. Hare Krishna.
Best I feel is Fruits. Yesterday Ekdashi I took the following
2 Carrots, 1 Apple, 3 Plums and 1 Banana. This ate from morning till evening. I reached home had a bowl of Potato. Purely without having the a pinch of satisfying my tastebuds. Hare Krishna.
The more simple your diet the more calm your mind and more love to Sri Krishna.

I agree with you,
but we have to be practical while setting our goals.
On Ekadashi , Krshna helps me, so i only eat fruits and a cup of milk, as late in the day as possible.
This may not be possible for someone with a long work day if they are not yet used to fasting at all. They may not be able to focus on work. Or , someone with health problems like acidity.
Here, we were talking about carrying prasadam for lunch on OTHER days, in general. The rice or grain-mung khichadi i would make , would be very mild, i do not like spices nor does Krshna.
I was suggesting balanced meals ( carbohydrate, protein, fruit-veg ) , especially one-pot meals that are easy to cook , to be taken to work. We have to take care of our body to serve Krshna, and in the beginning , austereties have to be in line with what our body can handle.
Many people here have not grown up on a pure vegetarian diet, and for them transition has to be gradual.
Certainly, spicy or glamorous foods are not recommended. I don't even find them appealing. Krshna guides us to foods in the mode of goodness in Bhagavad Gita Chapter 17.
I do agree that food should be simple , just to keep body and soul together.
Your message is very motivating, Thank You :)
Hare Krshna
There are soooo many
Hare Krshna Tekisui
Khichadi, rice dishes (pulav), lentil pancakes (dosa), Chapati/Roti-wraps with chutney or hummus made of chick-peas, whole fruits - oranges, bananas, carrots....
One pot meals with grains, beans/lentils, vegetables, nuts, even fruit if you like.
On EKADASHI, if its one of your energetic work days,
Sabudana Khichadi (Sago/Tapioca, patatoes, peanuts....) can be carried in a lunch box.
If these dishes cannot be refrigerated and heated up at the work place, they won't taste bad at room temperature. In that case, in summer, some perishable fruit/veggies may have to be avoided. The chapati-wraps will come in handy then.
I have been thinking of posting some recipes for LENTILS and LEGUMES because someone here mentioned it was hard to give up meat suddenly.
Hope this helps.
Hare Krshna ~
Please
I would appreciate if you would post some of tyhe recipes. ; )
