Hare Krsna~ As we are all so very thankful for the mercy of Srila Prabhupada, we should also be thankful for the mercy of Srila Prabhupada's beloved spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. For without him, Srila Prabhupada would have never delivered the message of Lord Caitanya to the fallen souls in the West (and eventually, worldwide.)
Lately, I have been reading Srila Prabhupada's authorized biography Your Ever Well Wisher and it is very fascinating. Srila Prabhupada repeatedly refers to his spiritual master in such a loving and respectful way, that I have begun to feel a certain love and reverence for this Vaisnava saint as well.
Srila Prabhupada was, among many other things, a wonderful poet and I wanted to post this very lovely and intimate poem he composed in honor of his spiritual master. It is so achingly beautiful, and very apt for us in meditating on Srila Prabhupada as well.
Oh! My master
The evangelic angel.
Give us thy light,
Light up thy candle.
Struggle for existence
A Human race,
The only hope
His Divine Grace.
Absolute is sentient
Thou hast proved.
Impersonal calamity
Thou has moved.
This gives us a life
Anew and fresh.
Worship thy feet
Your Divine Grace.
Had you not come
Who had told,
The message of Krishna
Forceful and bold,
That's your right
You have the mace.
Save me a fallen
Your Divine Grace.
The line of service
As drawn by you,
Is pleasing and healthy
Like morning dew.
The oldest of all
But in new dress
Miracle done
Your Divine Grace.
