I have no idea what section to post this is... so I'm putting it here.
(it's directed at you mainly Antony, since you're the "cooking guy")
But it's also to anyone else who might like this idea.
I was thinking just now it would be fun to have a little cooking "club" here with people on connect.
We could chose a recipe together and then we could all make it. (in our own kitchens of course).
Then after we made it, offered it, tasted it...
We could come back here and talk about how it turned out, what we thought of it, what difficulties we had (finding ingredients, preparation, whatever).
(maybe do one a week or something that people could keep up with, but anyone could do one, at any time, you wouldn't have to do all of them)
Sort of like an online Cooking Club.... Cooking for Krishna Club...
Anyway, it's just an idea....
: )
OK MEMBERS READ THIS
We will soon vote for the drink that we are going to make. Make sure that your drink recipe is posted in here if you are wanting your drink recognised for voting. If you want to post a drink recipe in here you have to put your name in the members thread. So POST THOSE DRINK RECIPES. Remember, we must be able to offer them to Krishna.

I'm in
PAMHO, Hare Krsna to all~ Although I haven't posted any recipes here to date, I love to cook and consider myself somewhat expert. I am more of a cooker than a baker, however, and with the little ones, it's hard for me to have a schedule right now. I am open to trying anything, however, and maybe I can finally put some of my own "creations" on here for you all to try.
Thank you very much for the invite. I hope to cook with you soon!
Jai Radhe Madhava!
Welcome to the club

Welcome Go-Seva!
I'm glad you're joining us...
Have a glass of nectar and get a nice comfortable seat somewhere around here.... lol
Well, I'm thinking we might want to start with a cooling summer drink....
Do you have any good recipes for drinks?
Of course everyone will need to say what we should make first....
I was thinking it would be nice to do a menu, starting with one item until we have the complete menu...
A drink would be an easy start...
What do you think?
Antony? What do you think???
: )
How fun!!!
: )
OK a drink to begin
Who has a drink recipe then

Drinks For Drinking : )
Okay... we're beginning with a drink!
: )
Here's my thought on this as far as the recipes:
Let's start with a basic recipe, or idea, and make it our own. Put a "unique" spin on it I mean.
I did this when I created all the recipes for the prasadam restaurant in San Diego (and those recipes were very popular ;) what to speak of the dishes created with them.
There must be thousand drink recipes already in existence, and since our club at present contains some pretty advanced cooks, maybe we could make our own recipes.....
We could even put all of our recipes from this club into a cookbook later down the line...
"The Cooking For Krishna Club Cookbook" (hehehehe)
So, how's that Antony? What do you think?
We will of course create recipes that are simple enough that anyone can prepare them (or most anyone).
So, for the drink..... a fruit punch... hmmm
Lets make it a fruit punch with a "spin"...
How about we make a tea base (herbal of course) from raspberry leaves to start.
You can brew herbs from the health food store or just purchase a package of raspberry herbal tea at the grocery store.
We want to make it really strong though, so when it's mixed with the other ingredients, it will still be strong enough.
We need to decide on the quantity we're going to make for each recipe... I think six servings is a good general amount.
What does everyone else think?
*** Antony, we may need a section in the forums for this... a "Cooking For Krishna Club" section. Plus, if we had that, more people might notice that we're doing this and decide to join in.
~ Navasi sits down and sips her drink and waits to hear what Antony, Snehal, and Lisa (Go-Seva) have to say. ~
: )
Standing Again
Pacing around....
Hmmmm
Okay, I guess that's too complicated.
Back to what Antony said (LOL!)
Anyone have a nice fruit punch recipe we can all make for the first item???
I'm looking into it now, but if anyone else has one, please post it, we can all make that.
: )
(keeps pacing, tries to chant while pacing ;)
How about this???
Hare Krishna!
I have found this recipe...What do you think?
Lemonade with Fresh Mint
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup fresh mint leaves
juice of 2 oranges
juice of 6 lemons
4 teaspoons grated orange peel
fresh orange or lemon slices and sprigs of mint for garnish
Preparation:
Lemonade directions
Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool slightly.
Place mint leaves in a small bowl; add sugar syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, and grated orange peel. Cover and let steep for 1 hour. Strain into a 1-quart container; cover and keep refrigerated.
To serve, mix 1 part lemon mint mixture with 2 parts water. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon or orange slices and sprigs of mint if desired.
Makes about 1 quart syrup, or 3 quarts of lemonade.
So we can make this concentrate and store it in a special bottle. And serve Lord when its too hot.
Or I have recipe (2) also.
Mix fruit Juice
Ingredients:
1 apple (peeled)
1 orange
1 sweet lime (both peeled)
2 big slices of watermelon (seeds revomed)
1 Chickoo (peeled and seeds removed)
1-2 spoons of sugar
1 pinch of salt
Method:
Cut the fruits into small pieces. Put all the cut fruits in the juicer and get the juice. Filter the juice through a sleeve to get rid of the fibrous contents of the juice. Serve it to Lord with some sugar and pinch of salt and lot of love.
This second one is really easy and I have offered it many times.
Haribol!
Snehal
Fascinating
That Mix Fruit Juice sounds fascinating Snehal, I would love to try that one.....
What's a Chickoo though ???
I've never heard of that...
Maybe that's an Indian name?
If that is a fruit you can get in most countries, I think it would be great.
Of course, the only thing here is that maybe not everyone has a juicer. It sounds wonderful though.
~~
I like the Lemonade with Fresh Mint...
That sounds really nice, and a great one for us to all start with since it's pretty basic. It's different though because of the oranges.
Wow, you really are quite a cook! I remember when you told me you already knew "how to cook" when you asked me about the proper mood for preparing Prasadam.
You were right... I can tell. I think we're all going to learn a lot having you in this club!
: )
Navasi
Alternatives
Hare Krishna!
Well Chickoo is a brown colour fruit which is sweet to taste. I was not aware that is not available easily.
But the main reason for it to bein this reciepe is that it is naturally sweet. We add orange and sweet lime which are sweet n sour in taste. And apple will not necessarily be sweet evry time. So to maintain the balance between sweet n sour taste chickoo is added.
But if you dont have chickoo its alright, add some more watermelon or some sweet berries like rasberry. If nothings availabe an extra spoon of sugar witll do.
Abt using juier. Well, this reciepe doent need a juicer, simple blender or mixer will also help. I myself dont use a juicer but a simple blender or say a mixer.
Hope that helps.
Haribol!
Snehal
Wonderful
Okay, that's great.
I'm voting that we use this recipe.
We can use raspberries as the replacement for the chickoo, I like that idea, and anyone can get them. Could you estimate a cup measurement for the raspberries that would be right?
Can you possibly translate the watermelon slices into the equivalent measurement if we were using a measuring cup?
I know it's not that strict of a recipe, that you need the "exact" amount. It's just that we do want to create a final recipe with exact amounts, so that even someone who is unfamiliar with cooking and doesn't feel comfortable estimating things, can still easily make it.
(I'm not that exact about recipes when I cook either, Snehal, unless I'm doing baking where it's important. But I know that others feel that exact measurements are helpful.)
So, I'm voting that we do this recipe first, we need to hear from our other members if they want to do this one.
Antony?
Go-Seva?
What do you guys say? Want to try this for our first recipe?
: )
