Statues versus Pictures?

I was wondering if statues of Krishna should be treated differently from pictures or prints? Is there any special treatment that is required for statues?

Good question...

Hare Krishna!

I had this same question, but I don't recall if I asked about it here or if I looked the answer up somewhere. DISCLAIMER: Either way, this is just what I recall and it may not be correct.

My understanding is that statues are treated differently in that they are bathed, fed, etc much like a living person. Whereas if you tried to bathe a print, you will most likely ruin the artwork. I was told that new/aspiring devotees should use pictures and prints until their dedication to worship has grown enough that they will be able to properly worship statues of Sri Krsna every day.

That is the approach I have taken so far. I conduct my worship of Sri Krsna with a few prints I bought off of the Krishna.com store, a print of Pancha-tattva, and a print of Srila Prabuhpada. I am still new to this, so it is definitely a learning process. I hope this helped,
