Krishna's Kitchen

Antony Brennan

If the Deity room is the heart of the temple then the kitchen must be one of the major organs. The kitchen is at the center of many of the activities undertaken at any of Krishna’s temples. Here are produced the delicious foods offered to the Deities at each meal and which are distributed amongst the devotees and guests as the mercy or prasadam of Lord Krishna.

Krishna’s kitchen caters for the festivals and other events held throughout the year such as Janmasthami and Gaura Purnima, as well as the appearance and disappearance days of the Acharyas. There are home programs, retreats and anniversaries which are all catered for out of the temple kitchen. It is said that in all of India the biggest kitchen is within the compound of the world famous Jagannatha temple in Puri.

Krishna's Kitchen Photos

This story really came alive for me when I saw the other photos of the kitchen, the opening, the devotees, etc...

On the Sidney temple website I mean.

Why don't you post the link to them here, Antony?
I think they are so nice. Others might like to see them too.

Just a thought....

Hare Krishna,
Navasi

Of Course......

That's nice Antony, much better. : )

Of course....

I know this story was written for Dandavats.com so, it's written in a very nice professional way.
However, since you are posting it here on connect, and we all know you, I think it takes on special importance to realize that this is "your" temple you are writing about.
I love the story of how you all made donations, then there was the opening ceremony (which was where you took those photos) and how each person who made a donation toward the new kitchen was given a little gift at the ceremony.

That's a beautiful story Antony, why don't you tell it.

Also, I am still waiting for the photo you promised me of the wonderful little murti of Krishna you received as your gift for the donation you made.

: )

Hare Krishna,
Navasi

(now I'm really in trouble ;)
lol
(sorry Antony, but it would be a shame not to share all this)
