Significance of serving cow
since a very long time there is a custom of worshipping cow as GO-MATHA .One main point is that Lord Sree Krishna was taking care of cows and doing GO_POOJA.Lord Krishna is known as GOPALA,one who takes care of cows and HIS residence is known as GOLOKA VRNDAVAN,the world of cows and Tulasi .
In Bhagavata Mahatmyam it is said that " In whose house Srimad Bhagavatam is instructed daily,that place becomes a famous pilgrimage.All the sins of those who stay there will be destroyed by hearing the Bhagavata Stories.
As long as human beings does not hear bhagavata stories the sins will stick to him .And Ganga ,Gaya , Puskaram,Prayag etc ,Auspicious rivers,temples lakes , all these, are not equal to Bhagavatam.
Anyone those who desire the Supreme Abode,for them ,reading one sloka from Bhagavatam,or reading its purport or reciting a stanza,is the easy way to reach the Supreme Abode .
Pranava the beginning of Veda,Gayatri , the mother of Veda ,Purushasooktam, Rig , Yajur and Sama veda,Bhagavatam,the 12 sylable mantra Om namo bhagavate vasudevaya,Sree Surya (sun)Prayaga , the king of auspiciuos lakes,Kala (time),Agnihotra which the brahmanas practice daily,Kamadhenu(the holy cow),Dvadasi,Tulasi,Margasirsa (November - december),Lord SRIMAN NARAYANA all these 16 are non different from one another is said by the wise.
The sins accumilated for the past 1 crore life is destroyed for that person who instructs Bhagavatam with meaning to others .Any pious man who learns one sloka ,or one stanza or the meaning of that daily , will get the result of conducting one Aswametha Yajna rightously daily.
The result of conducting 1000 Aswametha Yajna and 100 vajpay yajnas are not equal to even 1/16th (one sixteenth) of the result derived out of speaking The SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM spoken by SRI SUKADEVA GOSWAMI.
Reading carefully such BHAGAVATAM daily,thinking of SRI HARI,taking care of TULASI with water and manure,Serving the cow with water grass and other feeds are activities non different from one another .(source- Padma puranam,Bhagavata Mahatmyam)
When we research we come to know that serving a cow is equal to conducting many many Yajnas and also equal to serving Lord Sri Krishna.It is not easy for all to cunduct Yajnas.But serving Krishna and To serve a cow can be done by all .
We are suffering due to our past sinful deeds .we are not aware of what sin we have done in each life .It is said in the scriptures that one has to do prayaschita ,parihara for each sin .WE dont know what is the parihara for each sin .So we dont know the remedy to get out of the sinful reactions.Now we understand that reading SRI MAD BHAGAVATAM is sarva papa nivaranam and equal to that is serving a cow .So to lead a happy life Serving Krishna and GO_POOJA is a must.GO_MATHA is very merciful.,she will give you all required boons and blessings.When you satisy a cow then Krisna becomes pleased .So you are blessed by Krishna .
