This quote is extremely powerful. It highlights how inattentive chanting can attract negativity...quite scary indeed...
However by not giving up and being committed with sincerity and bhakti to improve one's Japa hopefully one can avoid such reactions.
It says in "The Science of Self Realization"....."The more one chants, the more his heart will be cleansed of material dirt." I guess the most important thing is quality chanting. As we discussed in the Japa Room focus on the hearing and pronunciation and we'll be attracted to the holy names.

Our attraction for the Holy names is affected by our offenses to the Holy names....for instance inattention - if we seriously try to avoid inattention (and the other offenses).....focus on the Holy names by hearing and pronouncing seriously and doing nothing else during Japa, then Krsna will see our effort and bestow us with attraction for the Holy names, and our attraction for the material energy will decrease.
