The Most Important Process

I was reading a very interesting quote from Srila Prabhupada's purport in the Antya Lila of Caitanya Caritamrta...I thought I would share this with everyone:

"Of the nine processes of devotional service, the most important is to always chant the Holy name of the Lord. If one does so, avoiding the ten kinds of offenses, one very easily obtains the most valuable love of Godhead."

̄Sri Caitanya−caritamrta Antya−lila 4.71

Chanting the holy name

Chanting the holy name, which is nectarean and eternal, enthuses one to chant more and more:
"The sound of this material world and that of the spiritual world are completely different. The sound of the spiritual world is nectarean and eternal, whereas the sound of the material world is hackneyed and subject to end. The sound of the holy name—Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare—everlastingly increases the enthusiasm of the chanter. If one repeats monotonous material words, he will feel exhausted, but if he chants Hare Krsna twenty-four hours a day, he will never feel exhausted; rather, he will feel encouraged to continue chanting more and more."
Srimad-Bhägavatam 3.21.22

Chanting more and more

Thankyou for this quote Raganuga Bhakta das, it reminds us of the importance of chanting the Holy names as much as possible - be that on beads or in song or in our minds....the more we chant, the more we become attracted to chanting the Holy names more and more.

Begging while chanting

One has to beg for the mercy of Lord while chanting, beg to get oppurtunity to serve HIM, beg for His love. One can get into this mood only if one is humble in his service and surrendered to Krisna.

I request you to put up the 10 offences that one has to avoid while chanting.

Snehal.

Ten Offenses to be Avoided
(from Nectar of Devotion)

The offenses against chanting the holy name are as follows:

2) To consider the names of the demigods like Lord Siva or Lord Brahma to be equal to, or independent of, the name Lord Visnu.

3) To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.

4) To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version.

5) To consider the glories of chanting Hare Krsna to be imagination.

6) To give some interpretation on the holy name of the Lord.

7) To commit sinful activities on the strength of chanting the holy name of the Lord.

8) To consider chanting of Hare Krsna one of the auspicious ritualistic activities offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities (karma-kanda).

9) To instruct a faithless person about the glories of the holy name.

10) To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments, even after understanding so many instructions on this matter.
