Thanks to Prabhupada

I saw that this forum was empty and felt sad. So if it is ok I would just like to post my own thank-you and tribute to Srila Prabhupada.

A very nice devotee sent me a biography of this wonderful man, who came to a new land where he knew nobody and had no job, no home, nothing to look forward to except spreading the wonderful name of Krishna! And one way he did this was to publish many books about Krishna and his pastimes.

As a writer and voracious reader, I love books so much. They are so powerful. Even if you are all alone and have nobody to talk with about Krishna, you can pick up one of Prabhupada's book and it will instruct you.

What a wonderful thing he did with his life. I am so appreciative of his hard work. Thank you to Prabhupada and the devotees who have carried on his mission of love.

Jai Prabhupad !!!!!

Srila Prabhupada......I just love hearing his voice in his discourses......he is very natural and seems to be situated in transcendental mode....he is an authority not just in spiritual topics but also on relevant social topics.

He came to this country at such an advanced age and did something that even a youngster cannot dream of. He must be so much dear to Krishna. One cannot approach Krishna wihthout approaching Prabhupada first.

I am personally very much indebted to Srila Prabhupada, for what he has given me I can never pay back. He has given me Krishna.

Thank you Srila Prabhupada.

Jai Prabhupada !!!!

I owe many things to Srila

Without finding his wonderful Bhagavad Gita as it is, I would not know Krishna. Without reading his Essays on self realization, I would not know my lifes meaning.
I owe many things to Srila, and I find comfort in his writings. I even enjoy looking at photos of him. You can see his warmth, and joy. I also enjoy his sense of humour,as one of you pointed out.
Reading his books I feel like I know him. I feel that we are in the same room having a conversation. Such a fantastic feeling!
I owe many things to Srila, if not for him I would not know Krishna!!!
Thank you prabhupada

Hare Krsna!

I'm so happy to have Srila Prabhupada's books and blessings.
I remember when I first bought a copy of the Krsna book.
I had $5.00 to either spend on food at taco bell or to spend it on a pocket book version of Volume one of the Krsna book. Wisely I made the decision to buy the Krsna book, I found it at a used record shop out of all places!
Previously I looked at some of the stories and pictures in the Krsna book when I found it in a used book store but at the time I was'nt sure where my heart was but I knew that I needed some help.
The story of the Killing of Putana changed my life and protected me from evil that I was dealing with. I'm glad that Srila Prabhupada came here to let us know about Krsna.
All Glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga and Devotees!

when i see pictures of srila

when i see pictures of srila prabupada i think of him as my grandfather in a sort of way...

he is my father's spiritual master in a way he is my father's true father because he is the father of his soul, so i kind of see him as the grandfather of my soul.

so krishna is my ultimate father as he eternally manifests himself as the primeval cause: Govinda.

and the chain of disciples he sparked are the ancestors of my soul.

though i cannot confirm this idea but i say that the knowledge they posses quantifies my soul so in essence the light of bhakti is the propagator of my soul and yes though it does expand from bhraman as indicated in sacred texts the quantifier is bhakti

Jai Srila Prabhupad

Hare Krishna

I was a little mistaken about the title of this forum. I thought it was about the Vyasa Puja day itself - a particular day in the year to show your gratitude to the Guru. Thanks to Seven, who just made a post, I came here.

I only know Srila Prabhupad through his books. Yet, being such a great personality who started a worldwide Krishna Conciousness movement, who became a fatherly shelter to many in the western world, we feel that we are actually interacting with him when we read.

He reminds me of my grandfather and my father-in-law. Very affectionate, yet firm about principles and yet lovingly lenient in some ways. He is so funny too. I like his sense of humor which is visible through his writings. When I read his books I know I am in good hands. When I listen to his recorded lectures, I know this is nectar that cannot be missed. It is a pleasure to watch Ratha Yatra or other videos about him. When I pray to him I think he listens. But I feel he talks very little - sign of a Mahatma.

Here is a link to some recent fun discussion we had.
